<p><strong><em><u>What is the purpose of this research? </u></em></strong></p>
<p>The overall purpose of the research is to learn more about the subjective qualities of emotion and how people estimate others’ emotions.</p>

<p><strong><em><u>What can I expect if I take part in this research? </u></em></strong></p>
<p>This experiment will be completed online. During the experiment, you will complete two phases which will take a <strong>total of 10 minutes.</strong> </p>
<p>In the task phase, you will be asked to look at a face expressing positive or negative emotion and estimate its emotionality. There will be a practice session followed by 50 real trials. </p>
<p>Following this task, you will be asked to complete a short 5-minute survey including questions about your personality, emotions, relationships to other groups, and demographic information. </p>
<p>You will be paid <strong>$1.40</strong> for your participation. </p>

<p><strong><em><u>What should I know about a research study? </u></em></strong></p>
<ul>
  <li>Whether or not you take part is up to you.</li>
  <li>Your participation is completely voluntary.</li>
  <li>You can agree to take part and later change your mind.</li>
  <li>Your decision will not be held against you.  </li>
  <li>Your refusal to participate will not result in any consequences or any loss of benefits that you are otherwise entitled to receive.</li>
  <li>You can ask all the questions you want before you decide.</li>
</ul>

<p>As part of this research design, you may not be told about the purpose or procedures of this research. </p>
