[Problem] Starting MPF without Internet

Describe the issue
If I have checked the option to verify for new version but I don't have internet at the moment, the software takes a while to start (probably the timeout) and then gives me this error:

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1 - Check the verify for updates
2 - Start the software without internet

Expected behavior
A user friendly error message

I don't see how this is a bug or unintended behavior at all. You have it set to connect, it can't connect, so it displays the exception.

yes but it could say a "human message" like: software couldn't connect to check for new version and not all the "tech stuff"
