Not a bug but mostly a feature request you express here.
This package was developed to be used in react native / bare expo projet (which means with android and ios folder that you can adapt to your need, like the setup explaining how to integrate it in your app) but not for expo managed workflow in the beginning.
They are a PR #145 to add support for config plugin, and with that you could use it easily with expo developemnt build in your app to use it.
