That's a good question. In just the last couple days I'd been thinking it would be useful if the script recognized an asana URL, so you could copy and paste the entire thing from the address bar instead of trying to select the last component. That would solve your problem as well, with the cost of dumping a pretty big string into the commit message. I'll try and work on this soon, or feel free to submit a pull request if you'd like.

Maby writing Chrome or Firefox extension would help. There are sections called "SHOWING A SPECIFIC TASK" and "Example Applications". With this knowledge, writing a Chrome extension would be possible.

And if the API is able to get the full url, should or could post-hook write extra code at the end of the commit where we could write the full urls?

Well, you can always write the full URL in the commit message if you want. That's totally up to you. It's just that currently you'll also have to write the bug # for the script to know what you're talking about.
