I noticed this issue was marked as completed on December 29th, 2025, however it is still occurring for me. The behaviour persists even after fully reinstalling SteamVR. When this issue occurs, SteamVR continues to appear as running even after it has been fully closed, either using the hamburger menu or pressing the X on the SteamVR window. This problem does not occur on older versions of VRCFaceTracking and only happens when VRCFaceTracking is launched as a start-up application through SteamVR.
Setup
OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: RTX 4070 Ti Super
RAM: 64 GB
SteamVR: 2.14.5
VRCFaceTracking: 5.4.2.0
Prerequisites
-
VR HMD connected to the PC
-
In SteamVR Settings, VRCFaceTracking is enabled under start-up Overlay Applications
Steps to Reproduce
-
Launch SteamVR
-
Confirm that VRCFaceTracking starts with SteamVR automatically
-
In SteamVR, open the hamburger menu in the bottom left and select Exit VR, or close SteamVR by pressing the X on the SteamVR window
-
Open Task Manager and check background processes for VRCFaceTracking.ModuleProcess
Result
VRCFaceTracking.ModuleProcess remains running under background processes even after SteamVR has been closed.
Frequency
Occurs every time. 5 out of 5 attempts.
Expected Behaviour
VRCFaceTracking.ModuleProcess should close whenever SteamVR closes.
