As far as I'm concerned, the n0rbury fork conforms to the license of this project by providing attribution (at least, as of this comment).

I don't have time (or really a reason) to add features / continually update this repo myself anymore. I'm open to adding maintainers, setting up CI/CD with marketplace credentials, reviewing/merging PRs, etc. so it doesn't get even more stale.

That said, this extension has thousands of installs, there are other extensions that do a similar thing, and J1939 is a complex standard with a lot of industry-specific behavior that goes beyond what's in the standard itself. Any significant rewrites should involve some thought rather than just handing things off to an LLM. I'm definitely not anti-AI, I just think it should be used strategically so we don't quietly break things for others. The code is currently a mess (it was a college side project), so improvements are definitely welcome, just thoughtfully.

I'd strongly encourage pushing altogether on this one repo and extension in the marketplace, and adding in others in the community such as @n0rbury who can continue as primary contributors. It would be a shame to have a popular extension die off, and just cause churn for folks looking for the best experience.
