MaximaPool return of plot command

Hi all,

we run a MaximaPool (5.41.0) as a server for Ilias 5.3. Unfortunately the health check in Stack fails for the plots. If i open host:8080/MaximaPool/MaximaPool and run plot2d(sin(x),[x,0,2*%pi]); in the test form, I get the following output:

(note the double "/").
However, on the machine, the file "maxout616.gnuplot" is located at
"/usr/local/tomcat/temp/mp-467612350458162008-3651841/work/maxout616.gnuplot" (single "/").

Is the double "/" correct?

Hi,
Well the double / is obviously the source of your problems. When MaximaPool does plot output transfers it assumes that it has been configured to set the paths that STACK-Maxima uses for outputting those files and then collects those files from those paths. It would seem likely that something is wrong with your path.command setting. The default setting should work so do check if you have changed it. Note that in that setting the Pool fills in the paths to a command that sets them so you are not supposed to tune them yourself.

Naturally, the default only works if STACK side scripts have not changed the variables they use for defining those paths and ILIAS might also have done something there. For me my last install was in December and this, the default, worked just fine:

path.command = maxima_tempdir: "%WORK-DIR%/"$ IMAGE_DIR: "%OUTPUT-DIR%/"$ URL_BASE: "%PLOT-URL-BASE%"$

Also path.command is something that gets loaded over any previous image or maximalocal.mac settings so it should be the bit that matters as long as file.handling is active that is...

I just upgraded STACK and MaximaPool to the latest versions and seem to have the same issue.

Also, the [ ] formula on the top of the system health check page does not display, but the ( ) formula does display. A course forum post which uses [ ] formulas, however, show correctly, so I think that the MathJax filter is fine. I do not know if this is because of upgrading STACK+MaximaPool or if it is because of also upgrading Moodle from 3.5 to 3.7.

Ah, silly me, please disregard my previous message. I did not notice that the lines are not broken on the health check page with the new moodle theme, so the page is ridiculously wide. The formula and the plots are there.

Since I also have the double slash in the the picture path, but I see the pictures, I do not believe that this is the real issue for @ma3ern.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the late reply, I went abroad for a semester.

I checked the configuration of the Stack Plugin in ILIAS and inserted a missing gnuplot command which solved the ploblem for me.
