Custom backup dir doesn't work, dumps still in default /var/lib

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
No reaction to any changes to
CONFIG_backup_dir='/var/backups/db'

All dumps (daily) manually executed (works) saved in
/var/lib/automysqlbackup/daily

Also, as this might be related, any simple changes made in /etc/automysqlbackup/automysqlbackup.conf are not applied during backup. For example, all the dbases are dumped, however, in .conf there is only one selected to be backed up.

I had this issue but was my own misunderstanding, IF you install the version in this repo, it should work, but if you use the distro version, it will not.
I had the ubuntu version installed and I was having the same issue, just overwritten the script with this repo version and voilà, it works.
