Description
Make #6509 work on linux and rebase to current main branch.
Motivation and Context
The original PR doesn't work on linux and a lot of time has passed since its inception.
How Has This Been Tested?
Started two instances of JMeter at the same time and opened new files and looked at the recent files list.
