Optimized Product Import by removing N+1 SKU check query.

💡 What:

  • Extracted all SKUs from the preview data before the import loop.
  • Pre-fetched existing SKUs in a single query using whereIn.
  • Replaced the per-row ProductVariant::where('sku', ...)->exists() query with an in-memory lookup using a hash map (array).

🎯 Why:

  • The previous implementation executed a database query for every variant row to check for SKU uniqueness.
  • For an import of 500 items, this resulted in ~500 extra database queries (N+1 problem).

📊 Measured Improvement:

  • Baseline: ~1950 queries for 500 items.
  • Optimized: ~1451 queries for 500 items.
  • Reduction: ~500 queries (approx 25% reduction in total queries for this specific test case, but 100% reduction of the N+1 issue).
  • Execution time in local test environment remained similar due to in-memory SQLite speed, but production performance with network latency will improve significantly (saving ~500 round-trips).

P2 Badge Keep SKU cache in sync during import loop

$existingSkus is initialized once before the transaction and never updated after a new variant is created, so later rows rely on stale duplicate information. If another writer inserts one of the pending SKUs during this import (or duplicated preview data reaches this action), isset($existingSkus[...]) will miss it and create() will hit the unique sku constraint, rolling back the whole transaction instead of skipping just the conflicting row as the previous per-row existence check could for later rows.
