feat: add Jet Lag Adviser trip methods - #457
aaronspruit wants to merge 10 commits into
Conversation
The library had no access to the Jet Lag Adviser. Garmin Connect lets a user manage trips only in the app and on the web page at /app/jet-lag-trips/manage-trips. Add get_jetlag_trips, add_jetlag_trip, update_jetlag_trip and delete_jetlag_trip. They use the endpoints that the web page calls, under /jetlag-service/jetlag/trip. A browser capture gave the request shapes. A DI-token session on connectapi gave the same results. - The trip body takes userId from profile_id, the same way the menstrual writes fill userProfilePk. - The PUT replaces the whole trip. The method sets tripId on the trip and on each flight, the same as the web page does. - The web page also sends back dailyStatus on a PUT. Garmin calculates that field, and a live PUT without it was accepted, so the method does not send it. - Garmin does not geocode a location. The flight validator requires a UTC offset such as "-07:00" and a local timestamp without an offset, because an IANA zone name or an aware timestamp is an easy mistake. The demo gets four Hydration & Wellness entries. The README gets an example and the new method counts.
Anchor the regex with ^ and $ like the other *_REGEX constants.
Live tests: a leg that changes no timezone, two-leg trips east (PDX-MSP-ATL) and west (PDX-LAX-HNL), a trip in the past, and a start date before the first flight. Garmin accepted all of them.
The web page names a trip after its first flight, and Garmin deletes a trip by itself after the user has adjusted to home time.
The total now equals the sum of the category lines, which count the demo menu entries. Upstream's 154+ was below that sum (157), so the count had drifted before this branch.
This reverts commit 260137d.
Clarified the description of flight legs and updated the destination location format.

- Line 343: Update the flight timestamp parsing around `datetime.fromisoformat`
to reject date-only values before parsing, ensuring each departure and arrival
timestamp includes a local time.
- Line 4422: Update trip ID validation in both `garminconnect/__init__.py` lines
4409-4409 and 4422-4422: in the trip-replacement and trip-deletion methods,
reject fractional `trip_id` values before validation instead of converting them
with `int()`, which truncates them. Preserve validation of valid integer IDs.
- Line 114: Update UTC_OFFSET_REGEX to accept only hours from 00 through 23 and
minutes from 00 through 59, so invalid offsets are rejected at the trip input
boundary before sending.
- Around line 4416-4417: Update Garmin.update_jetlag_trip to handle the empty
PUT response without attempting JSON decoding, preserving the documented
empty-response behavior while retaining normal handling for responses with a
body.
Review comments at @README.md:
- Line 521: Update the README example to retain the trip returned by
add_jetlag_trip() and use that trip for subsequent update_jetlag_trip() and
delete operations; do not select a trip from get_jetlag_trips()[0].

Validate trip IDs without truncating them. Both methods convert trip_id with int() before validation. For example, 1.9 becomes 1, so an invalid ID can target a different trip.

No change in this PR. _validate_positive_integer(int(x), ...) is the pattern that the library uses for every ID, in about 26 places (delete_workout, delete_activity, get_workout_by_id, and others). If only these two methods changed, they would behave differently from the rest of the library. A trip ID also comes from get_jetlag_trips() as an int. A fix that refuses floats for all IDs is better as a separate PR.

@aaronspruit Thanks for the guidance. The supplied code confirms that these methods use the same ID-conversion pattern as delete_workout, delete_activity, and get_workout_by_id. A library-wide change is more consistent than changing only the Jet Lag Adviser methods.
No change is needed in this PR. The truncation concern remains valid as a follow-up. Would you like me to open an issue for consistent ID validation across the library?

Learning: In cyberjunky/python-garminconnect, Python ID-handling methods in garminconnect/__init__.py commonly use `_validate_positive_integer(int(x), ...)`, including Garmin.delete_workout, Garmin.delete_activity, and Garmin.get_workout_by_id. Rejecting float IDs should be handled consistently across the library in a separate change, rather than only in newly added Jet Lag Adviser methods.

- UTC_OFFSET_REGEX accepts only -14:00 to +14:00, so +99:99 is refused. - A timestamp without a time part is refused. fromisoformat() reads a date alone as midnight. - The README example updates and deletes the trip that add_jetlag_trip() returned, not get_jetlag_trips()[0], which can be a different trip.
This PR adds four methods for the Jet Lag Adviser:

Garmin calculates that field, and a PUT without it is accepted, so the method does not send it.-07:00and a local timestamp without an offset. A timezone name such asAmerica/Los_Angeles, or a timestamp with an offset, will not work and is the easiest mistake to make.Tests
