Awesome, thanks.
I'm guessing that the rancher desktop would be just as good on linux. Might be a better choice for simpler install.
Might be. I've only tried it on Mac. The nice thing is also that it's free - the equivalent Docker Desktop is no longer free for all. |

@ulrikpedersen how's it going? I just noticed this PR is still sitting in draft and might be nice to complete. Do you have any motivation for it ? :-) |

Hi @gilesknap sorry your message got lost in my github filter/folder (must improve filter to let Giles though!) I might actually come back to this one soon. I have a task on to produce a demo of a BlueSky scan for a specific type of experiment (simulation mode). I thought I would set that up in containers and this is clearly the way to do EPICS in containers! I expect to start on that next week (in training this week). I can't recall what is left todo on this particular PR - can you? Oh well, I'll probably need to run through the entire set of instructions and figure it out again anyway... |

That all sounds good. Please don't ask me to remember things though!!! :-) |

Hi @ulrikpedersen you may be interested to know that there is a a very big update coming to epics-containers. I'm productizing it to hand over for testing to some engineers at DLS. Check out https://epics-containers.github.io/main/index.html#update-for-march-2023 The docs have had a major restructure which will create conflicts for this PR but I still believe it is worth getting yoru work included into the new docs at some point. |

oooh that looks interesting! I'll keep an eye on that. I'm not much on EPICS right now but there is EPICS work on the horizon so I do expect to return to this 😄 |
Installation instructions using the Homebrew package repo to install dependencies.
Using Rancher Desktop to provide docker CLI, kubectl, Helm and more.
