UI Glitch top most entries in settings only visible in wide screen #48
Description
Activity
I also tested this on my phone and want to share my findings
- Status bar changes icon color to dark and needs default white coloring when device is set to dark theme in system settings
- 3-dot-menu entry "Settings" should be re-phased to "App settings" to let better differentiate between server settings
- inside app settings the scrolable pane/area is hidden behind the bottom navigation bar and the top pyload-settings-banner
- actions on packages or sub-packages are none functional -> queue view - package - long click (delete, move, restart)
@ me if you need device details.

Please explain what that means
@GammaC0de
See the top system status bar in the screenshot above. Black notification icons, wifi and cellular signal symbols.
They were changed to black when i open the pyload app.For reference the expected style (pyload with firefox, etc.)

or the screenshot i posted in #34- added a commit that references this issue
on Jul 11, 2026 actions on packages or sub-packages are none functional -> queue view - package - long click (delete, move, restart)
Explain this, for me it works.
Any other issues before i release a new version?
app-debug.zip@GammaC0de I think I know what @UserX404 means. Compare these two pictures, showing exactly the same in light and dark theme (with released version)
In light you see the status var icons in dark not.
When using other apps, the status bar icons turn are white, e.g. here with the GitHub app

This should have been fixed in 3a91bb7 or isn't is?
Let me test your provided package here, it was the screenshot from 0.42
Any other issues before i release a new version?
For me just minor things, switch the theme too often crashes the app, but hey this is not a real thing I do offen
I do not like the scrolling titles in the queue, especially of the name geht's to long, in most cases they show me the last parts. I would prefer to not scroll them and maybe make the font size smaller. Better to support some when and edit of the package.

Or I would prefer a Multiline more than scrolling, more like the issues list in the GitHub app, also from font size
Reacted by UserXstill after two theme changes the app crashes but ok.
Can you post the crash log /exception (connect with ADB and and check the Logcat)?
Sure I can, but not now this evening or tomorrow, if that's ok. I can also create an own issue for this if you want.

on Jul 11, 2026 can you also implement to respect the systems text size preference?
Isn't that how it works already? from my tests (my phone) the system settings does effect the text size in the app
Oh, sorry. I checked again and it works indeed but it seems the text size of the scrolling package name is one tick to big.
I reference to the latest fdroid build. So if you've already put some size change in your testbuild please tell me to what version to test.
ThxEdit:
Just noticed @BobSilent has also already asked for text size reduction6 remaining items
- Font size topic fixed for server settings and package names. Looks much better now
- menu names fixed
Thank you :-)
Reacted by GammaC0de and Andre Mainka@GammaC0de maybe just a little thing
When opening a package the single files take up quite a lot of space maybe this can be more condensed.
Also the icon on the left is showing in the middle of the line, where as all text is aligned to top.
And the holster is for me a little bit too much right without space to then right end. Especially compared with the package line above- added a commit that references this issue
on Jul 16, 2026 @GammaC0de would you mind sharing a new build for testing?
I think most if the OP issues has been fixed.
But there is still one point left.
When checking server settings -> Download and rotate to landscape some space gets added at the top and the scrollable area is moved down.
When rotating back to portrait the space survives until i back out to server settings again.

When i start from landscape it looks ok but the extra space gets added when rotating to portrait.
