Initial charter from rust-lang/leadership-council#294:

  • Get a first MiR contracted by June
  • Establish procedures for ppl applying for becoming MiRs
  • Establish procedures for finding sponsors
  • Design a full charter by 31st of August and get it FCPed by the council
  • Work within the merged RFMF RFC: Rust Foundation Maintainer Fund rfcs#3931
  • wrt affiliation limits: only one employee per company is allowed on the funding team. If there are multiple (e.g. due to employment changes) either all but one must decide to leave or the one who has been there the shortest time will be removed automatically.

If we have the funds, or commitments, to do so, right?

This PR was rebased onto a different main commit. Here's a range-diff highlighting what actually changed.

Rebasing is a normal part of keeping PRs up to date, so no action is needed—this note is just to help reviewers.

I suggest updating repos/rust-lang/funding.toml to change the permission from leadership-council to funding.

This repo value does not look correct. I would suggest:

A bunch of us are at the conference, I can do that later, or I don’t know if you have the time to open a PR @ehuss?
