Examples requiring THESYS_API_KEY now offer the same browser sign-in and key generation as Cloud templates, and honor --api-key and --auth. Previously they only prompted users to paste a key and wrote it to the root .env.
The examples catalog now declares
env: { file, key }. FastAPI and React Native use backend/.env, and Supabase uses .env.local. Existing environment settings are preserved. The CLI validates the configured path, includes it in setup messages, and passes envFile through CreateAppOptions. Docs consumers and the “Run locally” popup use the new format and explain the sign-in flow. Includes a CLI patch changeset.Validation
Release compatibility
Older CLI versions fetch examples.json from main and do not recognize the nested env object. Coordinate this catalog migration with the updated CLI release; older versions will no longer prompt for the catalog's primary key.
