The resolved-cache.conf drop-in hardcodes Cache=yes for all stemcells with no operator control. bosh-agent now writes Cache= into its own 10-bosh.conf drop-in, defaulting to yes, so the stemcell file is redundant.
cloudfoundry/bosh-agent#499

Remove the asset and the cp line that installs it, and drop the corresponding spec assertion.

Explain Change →

Walkthrough

The systemd-resolved stage no longer copies resolved-cache.conf into the chroot. The configuration asset, which set Cache=yes, is deleted. The Ubuntu OS image spec no longer checks for the file or that setting.

Suggested reviewers: aramprice

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 9535e

The change removes the hardcoded cache override from fresh images. Resumed builds can retain the old override, but that existing limitation is not worsened by this change. The PR is mergeable with normal checks.

Minor (1)

Minor · Delete stale resolved-cache.conf before the drop-in copy. · apply.sh:11

stemcell_builder/stages/bosh_systemd_resolved/apply.sh:11
Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Delete stale resolved-cache.conf before the drop-in copy.

A build with resume_from reuses the existing chroot, so an older resolved-cache.conf (Cache=yes) can remain in the image. systemd-resolved reads resolved-cache.conf after 10-bosh.conf, so the operator's Cache=no is overridden.

Suggested fix

 mkdir -p "${chroot}/etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/"
 cp "$(dirname "$0")/assets/add-container-listener-address.conf" "${chroot}/etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/"
+rm -f "${chroot}/etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/resolved-cache.conf"

Before copying the systemd-resolved drop-in in the apply.sh flow, remove any
